BARBOUR COUNTY, AL — Twelve graduating seniors from Barbour County High School's Class of 2026 have been awarded more than $670,000 in scholarships, marking a significant achievement for the students and the school community.

The accomplishment was recognized during the school's annual Senior Honors Day program, where community leaders, college representatives, and guest presenters joined family members and school officials in celebrating the graduates and presenting scholarship awards.

Full-Tuition Opportunities and Bright Futures

The scholarship total includes awards from four-year universities, community colleges, trade schools, local organizations, and military programs.

Several students earned highly competitive scholarships covering full tuition and mandatory fees. These prestigious awards were provided by:

  • The University of Alabama

  • Wallace Community College

  • Xavier University of Louisiana

  • Huntingdon College

Additional scholarship opportunities were awarded by Troy University, Jacksonville State University, Alabama State University, and Nashville Auto-Diesel College, helping students pursue a variety of educational and career pathways.

Community Support Makes a Difference

The success of the Class of 2026 reflects the strong support of the Barbour County community. Local organizations, foundations, and alumni groups contributed scholarship funding to help students achieve their postsecondary goals.

Among the scholarship sponsors were:

  • The Comer Foundation

  • Clayton High School Class of 2000

  • Eufaula Heritage Association

Commitment to Service

Three members of the Class of 2026 also received significant educational benefits through the United States Army National Guard after committing to military service prior to graduation. Their decision provides opportunities for higher education while allowing them to serve their country.
